Course Description

Learning objectives

Students learn to think Christologically within their own traditions, communities and daily practice.

Students gain insight into contemporary Christological debates and developments.

Students critically formulate and evaluate their own theological position.

Students assess Christian practices, presence and teaching from a Christological perspective.

Course content

This course connects learned theology and lived faith by rethinking Christology in a comprehensive way.

It explores both propositional and narrative Christology.

Key themes include:

  • Totus Christus
  • The Filioque debate (Spirit-Christology and creation theology)
  • Reconciliation
  • Christ as Word (hermeneutics)
  • Incarnational theology and the Jewishness of Jesus
  • Cultural Christologies
